Privacy Policy

Lacquer lets you preview nail looks on a photo of your own hand. This page explains exactly what leaves your device, who processes it, and how long it is kept.

Your photos

When you generate a look, the hand photo you chose is sent to our server and passed to our image-processing provider, Google (Gemini), which returns the edited image.

We do not store your photos. The uploaded photo and the generated image exist only in memory for the length of the request and are discarded once the result is sent back to your device. The generated looks you keep are saved on your device only — we hold no copy, and they are not synced to any account.

Your device and your free looks

Lacquer has no accounts and asks for no name, email address or phone number. To stop others from abusing the generation service, the app uses Apple's App Attest to prove it is a genuine copy of Lacquer. That gives your install a random identifier, which we store with the date it was first and last seen.

Your free-generation count is kept against the random installation identifier. It is not linked to an Apple Account. Deleting the app may remove that local identity and may therefore start a new free allowance.

The installation identifier is not linked to your name, your email address, your payment details or any advertising identifier, and it tells us nothing beyond your use of this app. We never receive your Apple Account name or password.

Generation records

For each generation we record the time, whether it succeeded, how long it took, and the style instruction that was used — the length, shape, finish, pattern, color and background you picked, plus any extra description you typed. We use these records to enforce usage limits and to investigate abuse and errors. Please do not type personal information into the free-text field.

Our server also writes ordinary web logs, as any server does: the time of a request, which address it went to, the response, and the IP address it came from. An IP address can indicate roughly where you are and is retained only briefly, for diagnosing faults and blocking abuse. We do not use it to build a profile of you and we do not combine it with the identifiers above.

Purchased looks

Look packs are one-time consumable purchases processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app sends our server Apple's signed transaction, including its transaction identifier, product, and an app-specific purchaser identifier. We verify Apple's signature and store only a one-way keyed hash of the purchaser identifier, along with the transaction and credit ledger needed to preserve your balance and prevent the same purchase being credited twice. No name or email address is attached.

Purchased looks do not expire. If you reinstall Lacquer or move to another device, Restore Looks uses your App Store purchase history to reconnect the same balance, provided the device uses the same App Store account for Media & Purchases.

RevenueCat receives the verified purchase transaction, a random app-user identifier, and basic app and device information so we can report purchases and operate purchase integrations. It does not receive your photos, name, email address, or payment details.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and Lacquer contains no advertising trackers or behavioral analytics.

How long we keep things

Photos are not retained. Because we keep no copy of a finished image, we cannot send you one again — every generation you ask for is produced fresh. Device records, purchase records, credit-ledger entries and generation records are kept while needed to preserve purchased looks, enforce usage limits, handle refunds, or prevent abuse. Deleting the app removes the generated images saved inside it. To have the records associated with your installation or purchased-look wallet deleted, contact us at the address below. Deleting a wallet permanently removes any remaining purchased looks; deleting installation records may reset the free-generation count.

Children

Lacquer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
